01 / UNDERSTANDING YOUR CARE
A clearer picture.
Prostate cancer screening and treatment decisions depend on your health, preferences, family history and test findings. A PSA result alone does not provide the whole picture.
A consultation can help you understand why a test, scan or biopsy has been suggested. If cancer has been diagnosed, bring the pathology and imaging reports to discuss the next steps.
Discuss monitoring and treatment options, including radical prostatectomy where appropriate, with Dr. Md Taquedis Noori. Confirm the treating team, procedure location and follow-up arrangements.
Screening is an individual decision. Ask about its possible benefits and limitations, and how any proposed treatment could affect urinary and sexual function.
What to discuss with your doctor.
- Elevated or rising Serum PSA levels (>4.0 ng/mL or rapid velocity)
- Firm or hard nodule detected during routine digital rectal examination
- Urinary difficulties resembling BPH: weak stream, straining, or frequent nocturia
- Blood in urine (hematuria) or blood in semen (hematospermia)
- Dull lower back, hip, or pelvis bone pain in advanced presentations
Care options explained.
Your doctor will discuss which options fit your assessment.
Multiparametric MRI (mpMRI) & TRUS Prostate Biopsy
Advanced MRI categorization (PIRADS scoring) followed by ultrasound-guided core biopsies to accurately grade cancer using Gleason scoring.
Radical Prostatectomy
Complete oncological removal of the prostate gland, seminal vesicles, and regional pelvic lymph nodes for localized organ-confined disease.
Active Surveillance Protocols
Structured monitoring with serial PSA tests, examinations, and repeat MRIs for very low-risk indolent prostate cancers, avoiding unnecessary surgery.
Androgen Deprivation Therapy (ADT)
Medical castration and anti-androgen therapy tailored for locally advanced or metastatic prostate cancer.
Before your consultation.
- Bring all serial Serum PSA reports over the past 12–24 months
- Carry previous biopsy pathology slides and blocks for histopathological review
- Bring pelvic MRI or whole-body PSMA PET-CT imaging if already performed
A few common questions.
Does an elevated PSA level always mean I have prostate cancer?
What are the benefits of nerve-sparing radical prostatectomy?
